THIS IS TOMORROW

A small collection of memorabilia from the future: a time of CYBERNETIC SERENDIPITY when INTUITION  guided   FUTURE  IDEA  MANIFESTOS that abandoned right and left to turn forward.

When the WHOLE EARTH was not only a spaceship but  also  a   CATALOG of tools, from GUERRILLA TELEVISION to   RADICAL    SOFTWARE from THE HOUSE OF THE FUTURE to the NEW DOMESTIC LANDSCAPEBoth a TIME CAPSULE and a collection of EXPENDABLE ICONS

There will be no further

need for cities or

castles.

There will be no further

reason for roads or

square. (…) so having

chosen a random point

on the map (…) we will

set off that way…

without provisions,

carrying only the

objects we’re fond of.

(…) these are the

objects we will carry

with us:

Some strange pressed

flowers, a few

videotapes, some

family photos, a

drawing on crumpled

paper… Yet others will

take with them only

memory, become so

sharp and bright as to

be a visible object.

Superstudio, A Journey from A to B,  1972.

I like to think (and

the sooner the better!)

of a cybernetic meadow

where mammals and computers

live together in mutually

programming harmony

like pure water

touching clear sky.

I like to think

(right now, please!)

of a cybernetic forest

filled with pines and electronics

where deer stroll peacefully

past computers

as if they were flowers

with spinning blossoms.

I like to think

(it has to be!)

of a cybernetic ecology

where we are free of our labors

and joined back to nature,

returned to our mammal

brothers and sisters,

and all watched over

by machines of loving grace.

Richard Brautigan, All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace, 1967.
